Gas Hog(3MPG)
Yay! The first time I've driven my car in 11 months!!! I had a lil over 1/4 tank in it. I started to slowely drive it around the parking lot in circles keeping the revs below 4 and the boost below atmosphere. I have a few issues, and I'm sure they're all associated with it being brand new and needing to be broken in but, I need some assurance.
1. The car likes to stumble while accelerating. I'm just thinking that I keep getting in that zone of not hittng the gas hard enough to keep the revs up because I don't want it to boost. It does this terribly when shifting to second. @ 2500 in 2nd I feel like I'm riding a bull.
2. It sucked soo much gas. I drove 10.2 miles and used 1/4 tank, whoa, what's up. The course of this driving was very light throttle below 4k, plz tell me it's a break-in thing.
3. My headunit, clock, and domelights do not work. They worked fine with the old motor, all fuses are fine, could my harness be fried?
Thanks i advance, mods are in the sig.

Well the gas is new, the old gas was only about a gallon and has been "idled" out, this was the first time I drove it, but it has been started and ran a few times.

there is no reason not to adjust the tps now. having it set properly will help you better asses the progress of break-in. all you need is a multimeter, screwdriver, and 10 mins.....

Whatever the problem is....
You got owned! Hardcore!
Wow...and to think that I was bitching about 12MPG. Good luck and that's definitely not normal, not a normal break-in mileage(it's pretty shitty, but not 3MPG), and your 3rd problem is MOST LIKEY your fuse. I had the same problem before. Also make sure to check with one of those fuse checkers, my fuse looked fine, but it was blown.

Yeah I got a Contour that averages around 35, 206k miles on it, original clutch, tranny, everything except the waterpump and e-fan are original, can't complain about that ford.

We checked his TPS and his timing tonight.
We couldnt find any good instructions for the TPS, so I just kind of winged it. I looked at the lower plunger, and we ohmed it down to 1, using the two wires I thought would have worked the best with my S4 knowledge, the green and the black one. Didnt seem to make too much of a difference.
Also, awhile back we restabbed the CAS when installing the motor. Well, I checked it tonight with a timing light, and the first mark was about 70 degrees advanced.
We put it back as much as possible, but its still a good 20-30 degrees off. Also, I thought there was some plug that needed to be jumped to do the timing. There wasnt one specified in the haynes manual, and the internet access where the car was wasnt cooperating with us so we couldnt find out for sure.
Anyone know the jumper? Did we ohm off the right two wires for the TPS?

This is a rough adjustment, but it'll get you in the ballpark...I've found more accuracy using the "test light" setup (with a couple of meters instead of the lights), but the voltage test will at least show you how far off you are to begin with. Good luck...
