Question Gas consumption warming up car?

We've had a few cold mornings lately; where I went out and started the car to let it warm up for 10 minutes before I left for work. I noticed that my las 2 tanks of gas I was getting around 14 mpg. Usually I get about 18 around town in the winter (A/C off). Most cars don't use much gas at idle; that's why I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this, or is there actually a problem with the car. I changed the oil, installed new plugs/wires/fuel & air filters Saturday. I'm waiting to fill up & see if that helped any. TIA

I went down and filled up a little while ago. 15. 7 MPG; I only did one warm up on this tank, so I'm pretty sure that the high idle (while cold) sitting in the driveway is burning a lot of fuel. It's either that or freeze my *** off. Gas is a buck fourty now in Houston, so I'll spend 50 cents to be warm.

When the car is "warming up", it's getting zero MPG. Just get in it, start it, put on your seatbelt and drive away. There's no reason to "warm it up".

If a canadian doesn't have to warm his car up I don't think a Texan should either.

just drive conservative, don't go beating it, until it's warmed up.

Also - do your local gas stations switch to a 10% (or so) ethanol mix in the winter? This can also affect your mileage.
