Gaging intrest - Biometrics for your car
I would suggest RF ID tags opposed to "biometrics". Much, much cheaper to do than $1700 and infinetly cooler in my opinion. You walk next to your car, it automatically unlocks. You sit in your car and push the start button and it starts. Nothing extra to do on my end (like pressing my thumb on a pad) and very little change to existing hardware. It could be incorporated into a aftermarket alarm with lock solenoids. Even better, have it automatically lock once you leave your car. Think new Corvette....Keyless access. Just my opinion.

As was said, using a custom built circuit board would be extremely more useful. Who wants to wait for a computer to boot up, hopefully load everything properly for windows (we all know how well this is, especially from a HD or similar, since I doubt this is using a ROM of any sort), and then try to get in. It shouldn't be all too hard to develop something, and it'd be alot cheaper, faster, and more reliable. But then again... there's nothing all too hard about using a key.
