Fuse or what?

Coming home from class, I've notice that my clock won't show
and for some strange reason my door light comes up.

Also the beeping sounds when you have the key in the ignition sounds muffled
before turning on the car.

I have a 1990 GXL n/a

Is it the fuse or the battery?
Any suggestions/Solutions?

This actually just happened to me two days ago. My clock disapeared along with the function of the power mirror adjuster . Tomorrow I'll check my fuses and pray it isn't something more complicated (electronics issue.)

1991 GXL NA here.

The clock is part of the idiot/warning cluster so if the rest of the cluster works then it isn't a fuse issue.

By your door light not showing up, you mean the idiot light, correct?

Sounds like the famous electrical gremlins (see FAQ or Archive). Bad solder joints, etc. The muffled beeping is also solder joints in the CPU next to the dead pedal. the clock is also bad solder joints. I've re-soldered my CPU, Idiot light cluster, radio, and logicon. Focus on the large joints where the plugs attach.

No, it sounds like a blown room fuse.

Not a bad CPU which would have absolutely nothing to do with the dome lights or clock

Does the clock run off the room fuse?

yep, constant voltage for the clock comes from the room fuse, as well as the dome lights.

The door light idiot light indicator will back feed from the delay circuit for the ignition key light feed of the CPU when the dome light fuse is blown or missing.
