fuse keep blowing

ok i have base model 87 N/A auto.

im my fuse box the fuse for the back lights and interior lights keeps blwowing. it one fuse that controlls both the interior lights as in the guage lights and the rear lights for a night. brake lights work but thats it. it keeps blowing and when i mean blowing it goes out melting some of it. i do have two guages hooked up using different fuses though like one is hooked up the cigarete fuse holder sence i dont smoke and the other on is using the sun roof fuse terminal sence i dont have one of those. no i also hade the overdrive button or something in that erear go out cause ever sence the starter went out the car is stuck in overdrive and the botton wont do a darn thing . it is hower getting power. and yes i too have no heat cause the blower is not getting enough power down there to make it turn. you can hear the hole thin click down there when moving the slider but thats it you can turn the car off turn the slider on high and then the blower turns but cause its getting a little power . but ones you turn car on nothing .

now could this all be linked to bad ground. im in the process of making time to change all those that are always talked about. i hope that fixes my issues.

or could it be a bad ignition swith ( the part you put the key in? ) by the way how much do those things cost?

thanks for the help and i hope to get some input back from someone .

you could have a short in the system. probably smeware close to the fuse block that leads to all those systems. sometimes that will blow or melt a fuse

good luck

1.crawl under dash
2.look for a few burnt or bare wires
3.if found cut and replace those secshons

or take out your dash and cut the harness open (DONT CUT THE WIRES) and look for burnt or bare wires and replace as necisary

or take the gas cap off put a rag in the tank and light it and sit back and watch the fireworks LOL

i'm having the same issue with my "ROOM" fuze that keeps blowing, i think the short is near the fuze box, is it easy to just take out the fuze box so i could trace the wires going into it more easily?

coming to think of it , i noticed that there was a piece of metal inthe fuse holder i took it out when putting the fuse in there it was loose so then i put the metal pice back back in there so the fuse wouldnt come out. the owner of the car before me had a little metal piece that connected to the fuse that had a wire attached to it in there. it goes over one of the metal teeth that comes out of the fuse. im guesssing it wore out the fuse holder thats why it would nt hold the fuse inthere. can i just take the fuse box of and rewire the wire going to that fuse holder to one not in use ? to see if perhaps it was that metal pieve causing the issue or the fuse not getting enough contact ? please let me know thanks. also by doing this ill have a chance to look at the wires to, to insure no loose or exposing wires are ther. thanks
