Dash gauge fuse keeps blowing

I have an S4 TII that keeps blowing the fuse for the tach and other gauges that share the same fuse. I haven't changed anything in the harness to make it do that. It just started doing it on it's own. I'm still running the stock ECU and also running a second generation Apex'i SAFC. But the car drove fine like that for about a year. It just started blowing this fuse. Help please!!

The 7.5 amp "meter" fuse, I presume?

It feeds several components, try to disconnect/disable as many of these as you can, then try with another fuse as you're plugging things back together...

CPU (driver's side kick panel area)
ABS control unit (if equipped)
Gauge cluster
Back-up light switch + back-up lights (check these good, this is the problem a lot of times)
Warning lights panel (except clock)
Theft-deterrent control unit (if equipped)
AAS control unit (if equipped)

I think you just figured out what it is!! The back up lights. I'm going to check that. It would make sense too. I remember something about the reverse light wire that comes from the tranny being broken. That could be shorting on something.

I know this all sounds odd, but I'm 3000 miles away from my car and I'm trying to troubleshoot the problem over the phone. Thanks for the help though!

Yup, I've seen a broken reverse light wire ground to the trans and blow the fuse every time the car vibrates the wrong way. Check that.
