funny smell and noise

today i was driving and i kept smelling this weird smell. i couldnt tell if it was me or some crap car around me. so when i got where i was going i got out popped the hood and started hearing this sssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh like leaking air rushing out. i checked to see if any vac hoses popped off but didnt see any. felt around intake didnt feel anything. then i went to the back of my car and started smelling my exhaust. and it stunk like nothing else. it wasnt the smell of unburnt gas or a sweet smell of coolant. it just stunk. i think it might be that i added a extra ounce of premix last time i put in gas. i usually do 1oz:1gallon. i put in 8 gallons and 9 oz of tcw3. but im not sure what that would smell like. so any input would be nice. sorry i didnt take the time to search if this has been covered before.

Extra premix wouldn't cause a hissing/air rushing out sound from under the hood. It also shouldn't cause the exhaust to smell ungodly bad, just a bit more like oil burning off.

Maybe some part of your emissions system got fried. Without emissions, apparently 7's smell like ***.

I have no emissions an my 7 difinately does not smell like my ***.......

Check all your heater lines and rad lines... especially that bastard that goes from under the oil fillter to the firewall. Old coolant, when very hot, does not smell sweet, it smells god awefull, like a dead frogs ***!

Thats the only thing i can think of that would cause a hiss and a bad smell under your hood. The smell at your exhaust could be comming out from under the car unless you actually poked your beak into one of your mufflers, in that case, you'd have a burnt beak.

What exhaust do you have? Maybe I'm thinking of when the 7 is run w/o the split air pipe with cat's still on (or partially gutted). I dunno, ignore me, I was awake before 7 for the first time in 3 months - excluding staying up TO 7 .

**** i just remember something else. two weeks ago my fuse for my efan got fired so my efan didnt kick on during rush hour traffic. it almost overheated it got to 3/4 of the gauge. their is no bad smell under the hood. just coming out of the muffler. i have a good noise. i couldnt smell it that well on the right side but on the left side (which is were the muffler is) i could smell it. and i stock my face near it and it was defintly coming out of the muffler. ill go check the heater line and rad lines near the oil filter now.

10-1 that the hissing sound is comming from a pinhole in the hose below the oil filter.... the one that goes from there to the heater core... don't burn yourself, but check that hose

that hose transferrs water from the rear housing to the heater core... If its leaking, its gonna blow sooner or later.. if it blows... your engine goes!!!!!

What happens is that everytime you change your oil and a drop of oil from the filter gets on that hose, it degrades it just a bit more and eventually it will POP!!!

Its 28 bucks from Madatrix
