Fun with the Engine bay or Wireing mess!

As I am cleaning my engine bay out to make room for a new engine ( - all crap not needed) I'm starting to see why it blow. The wire harness is ducked taped together! both the engine harness and body are spliced and ducked taped together (in 2 places the are connect to each other!) well after ripping 65% of the front down (got the oil cooler and driver side to do) and finding this out. it means I need a new harness look at spare car... Nope! the moron cut the wire :P so since I was thinking about a megasquirt anyway... My question is this:

Do I make a new engine harness or do you use the stock one with a megasquirt?

and.

can someone that has installed this point me to a good place to buy the parts I see on there site a "complete set" but the site looks like it's has not been updated or mantained in 3 years!

Thanks

Mage.

You can either use the old harness or make your own for MegaSquirt.

The original MegaSquirt does not do ignition so you'll still need the old ECU. However there are several offshoots that do ignition but they are not quite as well tested. (there is even a distant cousin -> MS-AVR)

There are a couple of guys doing MegaSquirt on the Rx7 but I don't think any of them have it all worked out with ignition yet.

The best place to get information is the FAQ page at:
http://www.megasquirt.info/index.htm
And there is a very active Yahoo group.

The original creators of the MegaSquirt do not really spend a lot of time updating their web page because they are working on a second generation that will do a lot more including ignition, wideband oxygen sensor, and even further in the future - ion sensing closed loop ignition timing. Unfortunately it does not look like it will be available until maybe the end of the year.
