full paint project underway :)
so, i have undertaken a full home paint job, but "PROFESSIONALLY" dun
some background, i have some experience with painting processes and have posted b4 on painting engine bay. now im ready to do tha rest of tha car.
first, i made my booth, which is the space beneath my deck, i just covered it all up wit plastic.
then, sanding and more sanding and more sanding. with bondo inbetween of course.
tha body work is NOT perfect, nor did i intend on making it perfect. its an old car and not gonna be a show car, im jsut making it "good enough"
first, i painted my hatch black. then today, i did my door jams, front bumper, and back side of hood.
enough talk, here are pics.

it would be nice if someone could host

im using dupont paint and sikkens clear. well, my old man is a professional and we can pretty much handle ourselves, thanx for tha heads up. but yea, wat kind of advice to u have. heres wat im plannin on doing:
wet sand tha white tommorw wit 600 grit (using dupont single stage, so want to smooth it out so clear can stick betta)
then lay tha cllear, 3 or 4 coats.
dry couple of days, then wet sand, i guess 1000 grit to 1200 to 1500 and maybe 2000.
then buff tat bitch to a shine!
watcha think???

i think you are taking alot of extra steps wet sand it but only do it with 1400 and do it lightly just to get anydirt out that is the main reason you do it wipe the whole car down with wax and silicone remover which on the number scale should be 193 and mix the paint with 112 thinner and a little retarder and dust a few even coats on there and the clear should be one thick coat and remember sickens clear is expensive garbage i pay 34 dollars a quart and all it does is run on the side panals i use starlight clear i forget the code but one even coat of anything starlight makes is awsome but when u shoot it use a fair amount of pressure and use a number 2 tip on your spray gun
and you gun should be a gravity feed not a suction one those are bad
apply the clear 1 or two inches maybee a lil further what ever you are comforatble with and shoot in even horisontal strokes about a yard long and be carefull not to start and stop in areas of less that a foot or you will see it when you are done
other than that i cant give u much advise other than dont buff the clear its a waste of time itll shine like none other if u get one even thick cote on there
good luck
