fuel pump issues?

soooo, the last couple of times i have taken a corner pretty quick my fuel cuts out, and the engine stops..im trying to figure out why, today i went arounda round about and the car cut out on me...i think that whatever it is is also causing the burbly shaky ride when im slowing down too... now there are a couple thing i have heard...at my local shop they said people dont drift(which i wasnt doing) under a quarter tank because the shifting of the gas in teh tank and causing air bubbles or sumthing to mess with teh lines....now i think both times that this has happened i was about 1/4 tank. today i filled up and am going to test it out tomamro and see if it still does the same thing, found out my gas guage was wrong cuz i only had 1/4 of a gal when i filled...anothing thin is the guy i bought the car from said that it could be the fuel pump. he said the "baffle"???? was a problem for 91's na and that i could replace it.? if anyone knows anything or suggests anything please let me know, id like to get this car runnin good so that i can start on my bodywork... also what is a good fuel pump for my rx-7? thanks alot

Let me guess, it's when you're turning left.

It's 1 of 2 things.

1. Fuel tank baffle is gone/bad/whatever they do.
2. In-tank fuel filter attached to your fuel pump is dirty/clogged and needs replacing.

2 if probably more likely.

if i get a new pump what should i upgrade to?? i read another post today about upgrading to a 720??? if oyu upgrade the fuel pump do you "NEED" to upgrade other stuff to, or is that something that wont affect/hurt other parts of the car?

unhappy baffle??????

2 fuel pumps, one in engine bay by starter
the other inside fuel tank
replace both for special combo special x2

if you upgrade the fuel pump for your 91 na and upgrade to 720 secondaries, you will need to upgrade the turbo which you dont have

What he meant was...

2 fuel filters. 1 inside the fuel tank attached to the fuel pump, the other on the drivers side, underneth your car, next to where the engine/tranny connect (somewhat).

Don't upgrade your fuel pump in an N/A. No reason to. It will only cause problems.

For your situation, it's the one in-tank. However, replacing both is a good idea.

the in-tank "filter" is a fuel pump sock.

It will keep big chunks out of the pump..

the one by the starter is an actual fuel filter.....You'd be surprised how much a dirty sock hinders the pump.

And it only cuts out turning left becuase the pump is on the left. When you go left, the gas sloshes to the right.

if you want to waste gas and go slower, get that
if not, just replace the filters

Well... I already told you not to get a new pump, but all good.

There's no reason to order a whole new pump ($$$).
