fuel cut off switch?

i have heard people say you need to install a fuel cut-off switch after putting in a rebuilt engine. is this necessary? why would you need one on the rebuild and not the stock engine?

a rebuild is more prone to flooding because the seals have not settled all the way into place

We had a hell of a time getting my rebuilt started. It kept trying to flood so we installed a fuel pump switch. It helped tremendously and we were able to get the car started. As the engine builds more compression as it breaks in, I dont think we will need the switch but it will be there if/when it ever floods.

If you search you can find the directions to make your own. It's fairly simple, it's just a toggle switch.

so then when i shut the car off, should i just turn the fuel off and let it die, or just turn it off with the key?

I believe that is correct which you would just turn fuel switch off and let car die out by itself. To crank it up, you would just crank it up normally and immediately turn switch back on as your cranking to let fuel ignite. Hope that helps.
