front repu cover on s5

iam putting a repu front cover on my s5 engine.
i want to go over somethings just to make sure i have it right.
the front cover has a gold bolt with a spring i always forget what these are called since the oil regulator is in the rear.

should i change from repu to s5 to go along with s5 engine? (the front cover bottom bolt)

also my s5 front cover didnt have a gasket only RTV and the front cover o-ring didnt have a support only the o-ring was there. no tefflon outer ring. so when installing the repu front cover onto s5 block i should only use RTV and just an o-ring no tefflon guide? i noticed the s5 front cover has a 'groove' for the tefflon ring/guide should i leave this alone or sand it down? as it was it didnt have any guide just the o-ring. so it should be fine without sanding it flat right?

that is a bypass valve in the front cover and is the same across all series of engine iirc, it's only real function is to dump excess oil back into the pan in case of a line blockage, it doesn't really serve any real purpose since if that scenario happens the engine is done anyways.

i'm not a fan of RTV only for the front cover because it can block the oil dump to your oil metering pump(the small hole on the right side center of the iron) if you're not careful. if you use a gasket then use the teflon support for the O-ring and hold it in place with some weatherstrip adhesive or hylomar.

iam blocking off OMP. ive read mazdatrix.com/faq/oring.htm.
if iam NOT using a gasket should i use the tefflon ring?
or can i just RTV and put the o-ring in place?
when i tore down the rebuild there was no tefflon ring only the o-ring with ATV to hold it in place. thanks ben hows your repu doing?

Yes, RTV and the o-ring will work.

I wouldn't use RTV there.
I would always recommend to use a gasket + white ring + o-ring.

if you're just using RTV then don't use the teflon support ring, it will deform and possibly push the o-ring out of place. i still prefer to use a gasket and the teflon ring though.

haven't gotten much work done on the REPU yet, just pulled some of the engine apart and have the other engine sitting on a stand.
