Front brakes...separate hub and rotor

I'm still trying to get this thing back on the road. Found out the source of my brake grinding was a shattered pad in the front...I've got a brand new rotor and pads here.

However, when I removed the old rotor, I seem to have removed the hub with it. Are these pressed together? I drilled out the screw heads...maybe I haven't drilled them out far enough? I soaked the entire assembly in WD-40 and I've worked it over with a mallet pretty good but nothing is even budging.

Can provide pictures, but you should know what I'm talking about, I would think. '86 base/4 lug.

I drilled out the screws a little further since that picture was taken. Still nothing. Is this pressed together or what?

I don't have one, I might be able to rig something up with a bottle jack though. I should be pressing on the center part from the outside, correct? I'll clean up the inside so it has somewhere to slide.

The inner bearing is still in the rotor, I didn't destroy that, did I?

Afro engineering has failed.

I maxed out my 2 ton jack and nothing moved. I know it's nothing like a 30 ton press, but I'm out of ideas. Should I just take it to a shop with a press tomorrow?

take it to a mechanic before you break something. most will do it for free.

I don't understand- removing the rotor doesn't require removing the grease cup and spindle nut which hold the hub on.
If you pulled on the rotor and the hub came off, you have bigger problems than a stuck rotor.

You must know some very nice mechanics. All the techs I know prefer to work for money...do you have a very hot sister or something?

the hub shouldn't come off with the rotor as mentioned.

but let me tell you this. i had a hell of a time getting my front rotors off. i had to take the hub off also, like you did, and took it to a local shop. they first tried a 10 ton press and that didn't work. they ended up actually cutting the rotor OFF the hub.
that might be your best bet. won't cost you much.

Yes, I did remove the inner bearing/cup/pin thingy, as there was no way the rotor was coming off on the car. I also hit it with a propane torch and pounded on it for awhile...nothing. It's in the freezer right now, I'm going to hit it with a torch and a hammer in a bit and see if that does anything...then it's off to the machine shop.

further proving that people shouldn't try to do everything themselves. it's like asking for directions instead of aimlessly trying to find the way. heh.
good to hear that. the shop i took them to didn't charge me either.

You might want to spec the hub out before reusing it.

Yes and no. I exhausted every reasonable method I have on hand. The next thing I could have done would be cutting off the rotor, I guess, but I don't think I would have gone that far unless it was an emergency. Nothing wrong with trying things yourself....but yes, there is some stuff I wouldn't do myself (like an alignment, or getting an exhaust welded on, as I don't have a welder)

Did you take yours to a machine shop? Or a mechanic? I think a mechanic will charge you for just about anything when you walk in the door, and machine shop guys are usually pretty cool

Yeah, about that....I definitely cleaned out the grease before I hit it with the torch...lol. I've got a bucket o grease and an inner seal handy, just was doing some research on how much exactly to pack in....I don't think I can really over fill it, can I?
