Fresh Rebuild what would cause this?

Hey Guys hows everyone been. I just got my rebuilt 13b put into my 86 GX N/A last weekend but had school all week and finally got it fired up today but I'm having some slight problem. The problem is that as soon as it fires up it starts to rev up to god knows where since i usually shut it off before it hits 4 grand since I don't want to damage the motor. There is slack in the throttle cable and the idle mix. screw is turned in all the way which is why I'm baffled by this, has anyone had this problem or does anyone have an idea what would cause this?

My high rev at start-up was due to the secondary throttle plates open only about .024. I adjusted the plate stop to closed and problem fixed.

I don't think I have the fuel feeds wrong, from what I remember it connects from the fuel filter to the Primary injectors then from those to secondarys then to the return right? I will check the secondary throttle plates in the morning.

The car won't start of the fuel lines are reversed.

It's likely that the throttle cable is just too tight.

I don't think it is being caused by the throttle cable since there is actually a good deal of slack in the cable, so now I think I'm gonna try to adjust the thottle plates, can somebody tell me where I would do this at, I've been readin through the FAQ a bit but cant seem to find anythin on that.

Did you confirm that the secondary plates are open? Look through the throttle body and open the primary plates just enough to see if the secondaries are open or closed. Don't activate the secondary linkage. I guess a small mirror would help. If open, you will need to remove the throttle body and adjust the set screw and locking nut that is located on the bottom front side of the TB.

wouldnt you just have to tighten the alt. to fix your slippage at the waterpump?

yeah dual belt might do it but I think my waterpump is seizing up somewhere because I need to use a big pipe wrench just to be able to turn it a bit so I have the feeling it wont be as easy as tightening the alternator.

you should put in a new waterpump when you rebuild anyway. would suck to overheat and ruin a brand new motor.

Yeah I have a new water pump but for some reason there is what appears to be a earlier style water pump on it now. So i figured i would clean up the old one for now and start checking junk yards for the right waterpump housing so I can at least do it right eventually.
