Angry Freaking OIL problem

Here's the deal, I normally check the oil level and it normally show full; however when I change the oil, I'm missing two quarts

It's been like this for the past 4 oil changes There is no apparent oil leak, and even if there was a leak, WHY does the oild dipstick ALWAYS shows full?!?!?

Damn I take care of my car, but how in the world do I know if the oil level is right or not?

The car has a fresh engine, I believe the center plate came from a T2 (My car is a 91 NA), maybe te T2 uses a different oil dipstick, or maybe they swap them by mistake.......

Anybody know if the oil dipstick are different between generations? Anybody with a similar problem?

Check the oil in the morning, when the car is stone cold. Make sure you're on a level surface. AFAIK, the dipsticks are the same. If you check the oil after you have run the car (like at a gas station) you will get weird results.

You mean the drained oil is missing 2 quarts? How are you measuring that? After you put in all of the new oil, if the dipstick shows full always, it's full. The car is supposed to use about 1 quart every 2000 miles from the OMP, so you should be about 1 quart low by then.

Actually it uses about 1 quart per 1000 miles.

I tend to think that something is wrong with the way your checking the oil, either before it goes in or as it comes out. As said, if the dipstick shows full, it's full.

After draining the oil, I put it back on the used oil quarts or in a 1 gallon milk container. That's how I know.......

I will park the car on a different spot, and will re check. I measured the oil level before changing the oil, the oil level was about 1/8 lower than the highest mark\line on the disptick. After dumping the oil back on the used quarts, I only got two FULL quarts

AHHH the truth comes out. Not accurately measuring.

#1 the standard plastic one gal milk jug is slightly bigger than one US standard gallon.

#2 you will loose a quart between your transfer container and whats left in your old oil filter and engine.

#3 you are not pouring in a whole quart of oil everytime you add a quart of oil, as again the oil is sticking to the sides of the original container.
