FOUND A NEW PROBLEM.....what are the functions?

I was doing routine maintenence today and noticed that the green thermosensor on the back of the waterpump was unplugged!!!!!! Probably had been since the rebuild. What is the function of this sensor and what are the effects of not having it hooked up and what systems does it effect..I hope the car runs better and starts better with it hooked up. Let me know.

IIRC it changes the fuel mixture when the water temp is cold. It can also cause hesitations when unpluged.

The ECU might think the car has never warmed up. This will cause a slighly richer than normal fuel/air mixture.

That is the Waterthermo sensor. It controls some of the mixture/warmup functions of the ECU. Yes, it will affect your idle. Yes, it will change your MPG.

Your ECU defaulted to a 60 degree water temp setting (IIRC).

And for once, Santiago is right.
