Fog light...doesnt come out

hey guys...im trying to take my OEM fogs off so i can change the blubs and clean it but it as turned into a complete nightmare...the screw to take the light off has oxidation on them and heads are messed up.

I tried 40 WD, and nothing.

lay down on your back and look up at the fog lights from underneath with a light. there are two bolts holding the bracket for the fog light assembly. there are small cut aways above the lamp where you can get an extension in there with a long 10mm socket. you may need to gently move the bumper cover around to reveal the bolts. the little screw is notorious for stripping out.

well after couple of intense drilling and stripped screws i manged to removed the fogs and discover an unpleasant sight. WATER!

Water got into one of the lights and started to oxiadate the housing and turn brown it was bad.

now idk if the cables got messed up cause of water or what because the fog orginality wasnt working.

Does this system function as if Right Fog dont work the Left one doesn't o turn on ???
i hope cause idk what else it might be.

Below are pics of my OEM fog of the rx7..

No.
The wiring, relay and switch have no way of knowing anything about the condition of the lights.
Assuming the fuse is good, one light will shine even if the other is missing or otherwise malfunctioning.

Your best bet is to simply replace the water damaged stock fog unit. I've got one I can sell you if you decide to go that direction.

okay...probl can be a wiring problem.

the fuse is under the driver side and labeled as " Fog " ?

is there another fuse beside the one under the driver side ?maybe in the engine bay area?

Nope.

Is the fuse that supplies power to the fogs actually blown? You can download a wiring diagram (check the faq's at the top of the 2nd gen forum) and see what else gets power from that same fuse. If those other things are working, then you simply have an open ciruit to the fogs.

the headlights must be on for the foglights to work. unless you mod like i did. clip the ground wire from the fog light switch connector and ground it under the center console panel. i forget the wire color but can find out if need be.

yea im going to do that chk the wiring manual. Acutally i would like the mod mentioned by R.E.wingFC3s just have the fogs turned on without the head lights.

can you find out which color wire ? i cut the ground where i can connect the bulb or remove the switch and cut that ground wire and ground it somewhere on the car.

Another question i been trying to look for these H3C bulbs they are hard to find. can you convert H3 bulbs with working with something out with the terminals ?
