Where can i buy a new windshield?

Hi!
Does anyone know a webshop where i can order a windshield? I have a coupe.
Here in norway they cost 700 USD.
I cracked it while dropping the V8 on the subframe. Maybe it was a sign

Any windshield repair place. I went to a place called speedy auto glass and paid $350 for one installed. Im sure you could find a similar place in your area.

I wonder if you can buy one from Safelite and have it shipped? There has to be a better place local to you though.

It's going to be tough giving advice from an American perspective because of the way the autoglass industry is set up here.

It's not like there are lots of vendors who supply glass...in fact there are very few.
All of the endusers (Elite, Speedy, etc.) are getting their glass from the same depots, marking them up and adding installation fees as they see fit.

I replaced my windshield this summer and called all over town for quotes.
All of the places I spoke to gave me some variation of , "Oh, you're lucky...there's one left".
Yeah, as it turns out, they were all talking about the very same one.

Despite this, there was a huge difference in price...over two hundred dollars from the highest to the lowest.
Elite was the highest, Speedy was the lowest.

Anyway, the point is, I'm not sure how you penetrate the network and get to the actual glass supplier and once you did, if they would be willing to deal with an individual and ship overseas.
I kinda doubt it's possible.

Try the yellow pages, give them year, make and model and ask for a price. There should be a million places that can do this. EDIT: Oh, Norway, I dunno.

While US$700 for a windshield certainly seems high, it's hard to see what your alternatives would be if calling around in as far a radius as you're willing to drive to get the glass doesn't turn up something better. Lower prices in North America do nothing for you, because the price would have to be vastly lower to make shipping viable - if it didn't break in shipping. If the price is high in Norway, what about checking nearby EU countries?

No scrap/wreckers yards near you?
Just get the right tools if you have to take it out yourself. Think you just need piano wire and them sucker things dont really know never done it.
Good luck though!

From cars to home repairs, I find that I can do most anything that I've tried - after reading about it and preparing with the right tools - and removing a windshield is one of those things that I've failed at. Maybe I just didn't have the touch - I dunno, but good luck getting one out at a yard without cracking it. Since yours is already cracked, try removing it at a low point to get an idea of the difficulty.

Try BlackDraggonAuto.com I saw that they had windshields advertised for pretty cheap - maybe you could get them to sell and ship internationally for less than $700. Write them and see if they can help you out.

Good luck....

not to rub it in but you can get FC windshields for less then $200 installed.

Maybe you can talk to a local shop and get a glass on their next shipment? Maybe they are trying to charge you for shipping one when you can lump one in with their next order

what does it cost for other car's windshields in your area?
