Question Foam injection renforcement????

Hi everyone. Newbe here but I have owned my 86 base for almost 5 years. I don't know why I did not get on this forum a long time ago. Well my car has hit the 177k mark and 21 years of life have put its toll on the susp.

SO this what I got to overhaul the susp.

Tokcio HP
Eibach pro-kit
susp. tech. bushing kit

Anything else I should tag on my list?

Ok, back to my thread title. I am going brave it out and do it myself (yeah I know, "what is he thinking doing it himself") I read in the other threads of people giving up and taking it to the shop. But I have a whole week of spring break to burn.

Back on topic

I have heard of new cars having foam injected into the cavites of the body. In return, you get a stiffer body. I have already injected foam into my rocker panels but only because they were rusted out. I did not notice a difference there but since I'm dropping the rear sub frame I could stiffen it up by injecting foam into it. Maybe even the y-arms in the back too.

Has anyone done this or heard of it? Good/bad idea?

Thanks.

i would go with lightweight metal bracing over injecting foam everywhere.

did it years ago in my vert. You need to use structural foam, not home depot special insulating foam.

and it will make a solid difference with very little additional weight. Something that light weight metal braces will not do.

Do tell please! Yeah I think I put some multi-foam in the rocker panels that I got from somewhere, it was pretty much insltation type. I did not know there was a structual foam.

In the past I was able to buy it on line at the manufacture, but they stopped selling foams and just concentrating on adhesives.

So I have found Maxim Rigid foam (Evercoat) on ebay and this stuff :
Terocore™ Structural Foam at http://www.crestnetsales.com/foams.htm

Do I need to replace the sub-frame mounting bushings too? Or do they last for a long time???

Most boating stores will carry 2 part urethane foam in a few different weights.
