A flywheel does not add power, it lowers the moment of inertia of the engine, making it more responsive and improving acceleration.

does a lightened flywheel lower your top speed? Someone in another thread had said that it did, but I can't figure out why. I would have assumed that it would have raised the top speed.

It "frees up" horsepower that other wise would have been used to spin up the ~25lbs OEM flywheel. I have a 12 or 13lbs flywheel on my car and LOVE it. The clutch can be tricky at times, but it is a good mod.

From what I know, lightened flywheels lower your top speed. I know this because this happened with my car. With the stock flywheel I could do 135+ (never maxed the car out) in 4th. When I got my lightened flywheel, my car picked up speed faster but my top speed dropped to 125mph. I hit that speed in 4th and it will not go faster. I really dont care much about top speed, since you dont max out your car everyday. I would rather have the car pull harder in the low end and go slower in the top.

A flywheel wont add horsepower to your car. It helps the engine put more power to the wheels (less drivetrain loss). The engine doesnt work as hard to get it spinning and that means more power to the ground.
