flux capacitor might be out
tried alll the atf tricks, so I think I am getting another engine. However, I am going to try one last thing....I am going to try to cross mojinate the dysfuntional flux capacitor and see if I can get it cranked that way.
In all seroiusness I knew this would get some responses, I want to put headers and take off the air pump and put some underdrive pulleys, maybe a serpintine belt If anyone knows How I can do this and lose the AIR pump and keep the AC compressor , the power steering, and the altenator. let me know I also want to put on an electric fan any one know what vehilce has the right size and how to set it up to turn on at a certain temp instead of always on or manually on.

Just pull of the fan and get a Black Magic one. On the air pump, just pull it off. It is that easy. It would be good to put on a double pulley on the alternator, b/c of slippage at high revs, but is not totally necessary!

thanks I want to put on a double wide belt and some polished aluminum pulleys, but I do not see how I can get the belt on the alternator and the power steering pump. I saw someone once with a serpintine belt set up but I don't know how he did it or what he still was running. Is black magic a type of fan? I have access to a junkyard, my uncle owns it and was hoping to find a fan off another vehicle since it is free. any ideas?

mmmm be very carfull removing the Crank pulley i seem to remember reading about a bearing that moves out of place if the crank bolt is loose and the shaft is pushed back.
Cant you just replace the seal when you cange the pulley?

www.racingbeat.com for the pulleys. NAPA auto parts for the o2 sensor, just get the Bosch universal one. www.summitracing.com for the Black Magic fan. $150 for the pull type. Yes, it is a brand name. Good luck!

I'm curious
Why does everyone use the Black Magic fan? The numbers on it are terrible, the Perma-Cool draws less power and more air...
I've talked to a couple of people who have BMs and they honestly didn't know why they got it other than "everyone else has one" and "my mechanic said so."
Is there something special about the BM fans that I don't know about?

I have header questions. which one should i use. I don't know what they mean by 6 port or 4 port. I have a 89N/A want to take off the emmissions junk. do I still need the O2 sensor. Not where to by it, but thanks anyway. Has anyone seen a pulley set that is one belt but one inch wide, instead of the doulbe sheaved 3/8 belts. the headers I found are from summit, "pacesetters" or those ones on mazdatrix.com. I want to run a single 3 in exhaust all the way back instead of a dual 2 3/4 in set up. think it will flow just as good.
going to try a fan off a subaru that's been wreck. I'll let yall know if it bolts up.

turbo engines have 4 ports, N/A engines have six ports. You will need a six port header. I also remember reading about someone who put a fiero fan in there car, cant remember who though. Hope this helps

i appreciate the tip on the fan I happen to have access to a fiero. I think most of it is still there. I heard some people mention the 6 port racing beat header. what do you think. also dual exhasut all the way or three inch to the back and split at stock place and 2 mufflers. It has a factory exhaust on it and no cat with a pre silencer where the cat was.

The mid-80s Buick/Olds/Pontiac cars with the transverse mounted V6 have a 16" fan that fits just fine into an FC. The shroud is the same height as the stock radiator, but the mounting brackets get in the way of the duct to the airbox, if you're still running the stock airbox. I've got a 16" fan from some Buick Regal ($9.99 at the local pull-a-part) and a $15 thermoswitch from the local parts store. It cools my TII perfectly. It's not pretty, and doesn't have a fancy sticker, but it works, and better than some of the aftermarket replacements.
