fluctuating OIL PRESSURE!

Car just started doing this a day ago.

Oil pressure goes up to about 60 psi whenever I am driving normal. But when coming to a stop or in idle, it sits at zero.

I have searched and people have had this problem and said a NEW OIL SENDING sensor was needed? is this correct? And if so. Where can I buy online for a 87 NA?

Just drop the factory idiot gauge and install an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.

mazdatrix... new oil pressure sender.

a new gauge will (most likely) not fix this problem.

I meant an entire aftermarket setup, like autometer for example

It's more likely to be a loose or dirty electrical connection at the sender rather than the sensor itself being bad. Thoroughly clean and resecure the connection to see if that fixes the problem before spending money replacing what might be a perfectly good sensor. This worked for me and many others.

I agree that an aftermarket oil pressure gauge is a very worthwhile investment though.

Yea don't go and order a new one right away. Try cleaning up the connection to see if it helps. If not go search the junkyard for a used one. they probally end up charging you like 10 bucks.

Either that or just with a aftermarket setup. Oil Pressure and Temp. Not to expensive and good mod. Allows you to monitor your engine. as the stock gauge is not too accurate.

Im not to sure exactly. From what I remember it should be around 20-30lbs at idle. 60 at cruising speeds and 80+ at WOT. This is just going of the top of my head. you want to check FSM specs.
