Flowmaster????
Flowmaster????
I was wondering if flowmaster 40 series mufflers
can handle the heat.
The thing I like about these mufflers is that they
are built like a tank....heavy duty suckers...thick
steel.
I also like the way they filter out the nasty higher
pitched sounds and let that deeper rumble out.
Getting them installed is not a problem for me,
I just heard that the higher EGT can burn up
normal mufflers. I would remove the cats and
any other stupid restrictive stuff in the system.
Has anybody done this?

Hey how did they sound? I'm thinking of the same thing on my 89 since I can have the work done rather in expensively by a shop I know and trust.
While we're on the subject of EGT and "other than Mazda" parts, Is it possible to convert from the 3 cats in my N/A to just one good aftermarket cat?

The sound of a flowmaster changes depending where it's installed. I've had several on different (V8-V6-I4) cars. Closer to the header makes a mid range sound (both high's and lows) and on the very end of the system it's really deep and loud. Thats just my experiance with them. I think they'd make a really good pre-silencer if anything.
