Flooding

Yes, I have read numerous threads and FAQ regarding flooding. But, I've just about had it with my flooding problem.

I have tried removing, overhauling, and reinstalling the fuel injectors. I have installed a fuel cut-off switch to avoid having to pull the fuel injection fuse to unflood. But, that doesn't fix the flooding problem.

I know flooding is such a common problem, but anyone have any other suggestions to help improve the situation?

88 vert S4 stock fuel system less the modification to remove the fuel dampner.

Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator?

No, but I forgot to mention that I did replaced the fuel filter.

The shop manual shows using a special multi-pressure tester to test fuel pressure. There's got to be a generic tool and method to test.

Also, the fuel pressure regulator does not have an adjustment. The manual indicates that you just replace it. Is it common to have to replace it when you have a flooding problem similar to mine?

Also cleaned and replaced the fuel rails when the injectors were overhauled.

Pull codes on the car, see if there are any malfunctioning sensors and *gasp* consider checking compression.

Looks like you guys came through again.

I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and have much better performance, haven't flooding and the overall performance is much better. It was also running a bit sluggish due to the excessive fuel. Replacing the fuel pressure regulator was way too obvious, duh.

I didn't even check pressure because an aftermarket replacement is only $60 and I still had the original.

I considered installing a variable regulator, but since the rest of the fuel system is stock I decided to stick with the factory set-up.

Thanks.
