Unhappy Flash To Pass Suicide

Apparently it had enough. Constantly out in the elements with the heat, cold and rain of the natural seasons and the occasional slap from an autocross cone was just too much. My passenger side flash to pass lense leaped to its death in front of the passenger side front tire two nights ago.
I though I had run over a glass bottle but now that the FTP lense is missing I know what happenend. Lets all pause for a moment of silence.......

Seriously, Next time you are under the hood of your car spend two minutes to check the bolts on your FTP lenses. It never crossed my mind that they could just fall out. A replacement is $51.65 from MazdaMotorsports, I suppose that is what I will spend some of my Christmas money on.

This is the second one I've heard of doing that. Ocelot had one run away also.
Quick, painless death though!

Mine did the same thing about 7 years ago when I first got the car...the previous owner had snapped the bolts for the FTP's and chose to epoxy them in place So, after a nice drive one day I hear a "pop" noise and felt like I ran something over. Once I got home I realized what happened...

I removed the other side and I drove around w/ no FTP's for a couple of years then I got my JDM FTP's and my S5 bumper cover and did everything correctly hehe

Try Corksport for new FTP lense's. Jon88SE told me Corksport sells the Japanese ones that have bulb/wiring that lights when your dims are on. Sounds pretty neat.

In Japan, they do something and have bulbs behind them.

In the US, they have no lights behind them, except the main headlights. They literally function as "Flash to Pass" lenses - when you flick your highbeams with the lights down, they shine through the FTP lenses, and supposedly tell people to get out of the left lane.

They don't work most of the time. I blame it on other drivers, because every time I test them, the light shines through.

They are just lenses that your headlight beam goes through when it's in the "off" position. If your headlights are off, you pull the brights switch like you are turning on your brights, and the headlights come on for as long as you hold the switch. That way, if you're driving during the day or w/out your headlights up, you can "flash-to-pass" someone to let them know you're behind them and you would like them to move over....or to signal your friend in front of you to pull over so you can get something to eat, he-he

Thanks. They were kinda baffling me for awhile.
