fixing broken FTPS? not the lense but the mount
basically i took them out to clean them and tint them ...
they turned out pretty damned good , however when i was taking them out the stupid plastic pieces that hold the screws which hold the ftp's in broke ..
i still have the screws and whatnot just no way to mount them the way they were stock ...
i was thinking about just epoxying the screws somehow back the mouting spots on the back of the FTP , but im not sure how well that would work ...
anyone else ever break the back mount on the ftp and find a way to securely reattach them to thier holes?

Another trick is 3M ultra strength trim adhesive. I ran a strip along the bottom, about a 1/4" back from the front of the lens, and the same position on the top. As long as you're careful not to stick it when you're putting them in (until they're acutally IN, then apply pressure), it's not coming out easily.
Only downside, is it's not coming out easily. The tape won't take paint with it if you take it off though, and they can be removed if absolutely necessary. I don't trust the bolts, I've lost 2 FTPs in the past 2 years of summer only driving.

yeah i was thinking that to, but its such a tight squeeze i'd be afraid that i'd get them stuck without actually getting them all the way in there ....

I did some work on my ftp lenses. I did it one night after I got home from a party so it was a really shotty job, and ill likely paint them again. I removed the front lens, filled in the groove that holds it with bondo, then sanded, primed, and painted them. some primer seeped in behind the tape and stained the rear lens, and I took the tape off too early on one of them and ripped out a chunk of paint. oh well... still look good I think. Ill go grab a pic!

fart on a friends head!!!
haha, i dont think david is gonna do ANYTHING lately. hes really getting antsy about his bmw. just mask it off and go for it. . . leave yourself plenty of area around the mouldings and be careful. you can get overspray off. . . dont worry too much. what you MIGHT want to do is wax the car before you do it. . . that way you can atleast strip the wax off if theres overspray anywhere. . . use vinegar for that. . . it totally rocks!!!
