Another car wont start thread
Alright the other day I got in my car..it started up just fine..drove it to work...then when I was about to leave work, I went in and the car would not turn over....absolutely nothing...I checked the battery and alt they are good..the electrical still works, just no turn over...
So I thought it might be the starter..so I took a screw driver down shorted the connections and it sparked and I heard the solienid turn....I then got a new turn key...and changed it out today, and still nothing, I checked my fuses? if that has anything to do with the car starting and still nothing...so the only thing I can think of is maybe the wiring just went bad??? but is that really possible? any help would be great.....info on the car is in my sig..thanks
Andrew

So the engine will turn over (crank) but not start? Or will it not crank at all?
From your original message, it's hard to tell what's going on. The term "turn over" means that the engine spins (generally with the starter), not necessarily starting. "Cranking" is when you use the starter to spin the engine.

Well, you said it doesn't crank. So I assume that its the starter. You said you tried to 'short' the remote power from your ignition switch and you said you heard the solenoid click. If all you heard was the solenoid click and the starter not engaging, then you got a bad starter.
I do not recommend you using a screwdriver to jump the terminals. Just a decent size wire at least.

it wont even turn over, or crank....I replaced the starter once...I had a friend of mine look at it, he doesn't know too much about the 2nd gen more or less all of just the 1st gen. But is there a relay in between the starter and the where you turn the key? I have looked through the FSM, and need to I guess do what they suggest....

There is a starter cut relay. It's controlled by the security system and clutch switch. Wiring diagrams in the Haynes and Factory Service manuals. You can try bypassing the relay and see if the the car then cranks.
