Fixed in the wrong way?

My car wouldn't start. Long story short I let it soak 24 hours in ATF and it fired right up. Well, not right up... and there was the small matter of the small structure fire's worth of smoke, but I'm getting off subject.

Anyway, after changing the now not-so-pretty plugs for brand new, I have no 3800 rpm hesitation.

It has always had the 3800 hesitation. My A/F meter still shows a change at 3800, but I feel nothing and the car pulls like a champ to the red. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this good or bad? Did something get coated in ATF or released carbon that shouldn't have been? Pleas let me know how starnge this happening is.

Thanks in advance.

I've put in the same NGK plugs several times. That's never fixed it before.
