firing order?
ok i've beenstruggling to get my 86 n/a started for a long time now. I got the fuel system primed and she will fire now. but she won't start up. Maybe i got the plug wires on wrong from taking the plugs off so many times? i know i have the trailing and leading correct but i'm not sure if i have the front and rear rotor correct. anyone following waht i'm saying. Is there a difference? i have a fsm from 1985 the first year the car was built and put into production as an 86 modle i can't find anywhere in that thing the firing order. Any help would be great. also if anyone has suggestions on why it won't start. it was running a few months ago. then flooded and ran out of gas. hasn't started sense. Any help would be great. thanks

There are only two rotors, so the firing order is pretty simple. Front-rear-front-rear-front-rear...
All of the plug connections are marked L1, L2, T1 and T2 on the body of the coil. L is leading (lower), T is trailing (upper), 1 is front, 2 is rear. The leading coil is at the front of the engine bay; the trailing is at the rear.
The leading coil uses a waste-spark method, so the front and rear plugs can be swapped with no effect, but the trailing plugs must be connected correctly.

Firing order? There is none, per se, being that this is a distributorless ignition.
You have 2 coils, and 4 plugs. Each coil has 2 wires. The coils are labelled, l1 and l2, and t1 and t2. On the block, Leading is lower, trailing is top, there are letters beside each plug if this confuses you. Front rotor is 1, rear rotor is 2. IT is pretty simple.

i know the concept of front and rear rotors and leading a trailing. but i also knwo that the rotors don't come to combustion at the same time so there is a firing order. Thanks for the info

Well, let me rephrase that for those picky individuals reading out there
There is a firing order, but it is not revealed to us as easily as it is on most piston engine cars. All we are told are locations of plugs and wires, not the actual firing order. True, we can find out pretty easily, but you can't just look in the book to find the ORDER. You can look in a book to find the LOCATIONS.
There, that better?

the most accurate order i can think of would be; both leadings, trailing 1, both leadings, trailing 2, over and over.
