ok i was driving maybe about a 1/2 mile from my house to a QT pulled up to a gas pump and all i see is Smoke billowing from my hood. i thought it was just coolant from changing the radiator out. so i lift the hood put the prop up and see a FIRE under the Intake mani near the PRIMARIES! i say OH **** grab the squeegee water at the pump and just throw the water over the engine. called a friend and tow bared it home. well i got the intake off and found all the oil injector lines melted the vacuum lines to the oil injectors like charcoal and the primary injector clip for the rear rotor melted to the injector . plus all the **** the person who rebuilt the engine did to some **** was prob why it started on fire in the first place. anyways i dont have the money for the lines so i was thinking would replacing them with copper work? i have all the necessary lines and fittings i wont do it unless i know it will work.

 

lucky it didn't make it worse. using the gas station squeegee water. i've heard of engine fires but cause of the pressure regulator i think it is on the front.

 

Your pulsation dampener probably went on you.( it is a known Culprit of Fires).
Another Guess would be the Guy that rebuilt it used Regular Fuel line instead of HI pressre EFI fuel Line.
I wouldn't use Copper,.I would look at either HI pressure Flexable Line( Jegs,Summit),Or using Stainless steel braided Fuel lines.
I am glad that you are Ok though.It could have been a lot Worse than just a car fire.

Name-brand FI fuel line is only about 75 cents per foot. If you don't have enough money for that then you really shouldn't own a car.

 

not the fuel line the oil injector lines shoulda been more specific. instead of the plastic **** was thinking of using copper. my dad did the same type of thing with his bobcat for the oil lines

 

you mean the oil cooling lines? isnt steel braided better?

 

MOP (OMP) lines is what he means, but cooper works is not what I would use. Some ppl use stuff from summit or steel braided. Mine are blocked off and I premix. But mine is mostly a track car

 

Du Pont Teflon PFA is about $23 for 10 ft. I am still not seeing the financial problem here.

I have to pay rent, a ticket, insurance, phone electric student loans i have NO money! until next week. i have more month at the end of the money. i only asked if the copper lines would work because they will not crack break from the Arizona heat and the heat of the engine. please dont bring my fiances into question when i have the needed materials on hand.

 

^^ man has a point. if he wants to use copper let him use it.

 

check those hard lines from time to time...if they are loose they can wear very quick. Or better yet put a slightly larger rubber line over the hard line.

 

I'd sure like to know where you buy your hose- last time I looked, NAPA and other similar outlets were getting @ $8/ ft. for 5/16" FI hose.
