finished the front differential mount

yeah its finally done. wasnt as bad as everyone was making it sound. took an hour and a half to finish. no more BOOM in the back. ill take some pics of the old mount. it was broke in two pieces!!!! that just goes to show, do not rev up to 7000 rpm and dump the clutch!! and if you are getting wheel hop, just let go of the gas. anyway, ill have some pics up later if anyone is interested. let me know if you wanna see them.

Did you replace it with a stock one? I did on mine and I'm not really happy with the new one...too sloppy.

My new one felt a little loose, like the broken one but not as bad.

CAN YOU EXPLAIN EXACTLY your symptoms of having the bad diff mounts before you changed them?...that will greatly help me determine 100% if mine is bad or not.

yeah. well if you race and you get wheel hop off the line, then that could cause it. also revving it up to like 7k rpm and dumping the clutch would cause it. its a BOOM in the back of the car whenever you give it gas fast or push the clutch in fast.

put the back of the car up and get under there. push up on the front of the diff housing. if you can move it up and down (it will go thunk and move up an inch or so) you need a new mount.

UNIQUETII...... Do you think that maybe the nuts need to be cinched down a bit more b/t the mount and the subframe. You know, where that slots are. Maybe yours is riding up and down in the slots because the nuts need some more torque.
And YELLOW RX7.....I'm glad somebody did not have a hard time. My first time was not sooo bad, but the next one was a bear because the nuts were either overtorqued or just frozen on.

has anyone upgraded their front diff mount to the polyurethane example?

my diff mount is snapped yet again. i am thinking of lashing out on an upgraded one, or perhaps a solid steel one that cannot shear.

thoughts?

changing that mount does suck something fierce...

Exclamation symptoms and sympathy

Yes thus far changing this d@mn thing does suck. I had to:

1: Undo the really, really tight nuts on the mount with a torch and then put alot of *** behind it.
2: Find out I'm an idiot and that i have to drop the pumpkin
3: unhook the axles and drop them out of the way, (finally something easy)
4: drop the pumpkin
5: ****, unhook the drive shaft dummy (forgot i had stuck the bolts back in it the day before)
6: wrestle with the pumkin and broken mount with 2 out of 3 hands needed
7: oh well i guess i need to take the gas tank shrowd off
8: Oh so that usless peice of rubber in the front must be to keep the pumpkin from falling out, removed stumpid useless peice block of rubber in the front
9: remove pumkin yeah
10: scratch my head and try to decide if i can afford a new one, wow $115 for a piece of rubber glued to some metal plates.... (I love that part of rx7 ownership)

Tips
go ahead and take of the gas tank shrowd
taker off that stupid rubber block in the front
(i already had my exaust (sp) off from the cat back that probably helped)
take the mount of the diff after taking it out of the car (i think that may have been easier??? anyone??? anyone???)

<b> symptoms:
1. the rear end thunks when you left off the gas and then punch it again kinda like a u-joint does when busted

2: get under the car push up on drive shaft does the diff move in the front like alot and do you hear the same thunk?

3: I think (read hope) that and accompanying vibration was involed (anyone?? anyone??)
