Finaly in pics-My V-Mount setup

I have been asked many times for pics of my V-mount set up. I happened to have a Camera and the car together yesterday- so I snapped a few.

Keep in mind, this is with a 4G63, but it should work dimensionally with a rotary. This is using the Ebay 24x12x4 core, and a STOCK radiator. It works flawless for me, and for about as cheaply as you could build a true V-mount kit for.

EDIT-dont know why they are so big! Just click the link

Do I dare ask to see the hole you put in the hood? lol

Did you seal it up around the sides at all?

Why not? No AC/PS and you can do that especially if you have a RE or REW Swap... This is exactly my plan for my can when I drop the RE in.

the pipe to the throttle body could never be a straight pipe that only looks a few inches like that one

The whole is the exact size on the Core, with a "gurney flap" style low pressure generator to insure the air is wafting out of there. A pretty version will be done when my body guy has a spare moment, but right now its definitely function over form.

True-but it would only be 12-16 inches longer to the TB, even without a greddy style elbow.

The reason I went this route was price. It was literally only the cost of the Chinabay IC Core, and one 90 degree pipe out of the turbo! Everything else (besides the ducting, used some old tin I had laying around) was stock to the car.

I had the same IC in FMIC fashion, but I was running into overheating issues when it was hot or I was doing long full throttle sessions.

Good budget IC build!

Shrouding will make a big difference in function for sure. Even duct tape and cardboard will do it...

If I were to cut the front upper cross member like that for the IC (shudder) I would incorporate the IC mounts to the end tank there for a finished look and IC as structural member- lol.

Glad to see your piston powered beastie is still running and under development!

It likely would not work at all without it.

Yes-of course. Otherwise, it would not work at all!

Not a good pic- but the only pic I have right now. the hood is temporary until my body guy gets out of the hospital.

How much did this cost you to make? I'm going to post pics of my budget V-Mount hopefully in the next week or so. Right now I have $400 in it total, with a new radiator.

The $120 for the intercooler is my only real cost. The clamps/couplers/pipe I had laying around.

Oh - Forgot to add, I've been looking at the other core that they have. The ends come off a bit differently.

If you send me a link- I could tell you the exact core it was. Its 12x24x4. Cast, smooth end tanks. It was $140 plus shipping but I got it used. It had 3 inch in/out but I converted the one side to the 3.5inch GM maf Im using.

My 2 minute search didnt find it on Ebay.

Yeah I know which one you're talking about. They have a new one out that's a bit thicker and the ends come off differently. I'm thinking about picking that up and using it.

Hey sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Plus it allows more air in than the stock scoop.
