Smile Finally replaced my broken mufflers.

Mufflers snapped off the exhuast pipe about a month ago. Today I finally replaced them with the black Racing Beat ones. Took me about four and a half hours. This was mainly due to the fact that all the bolts were so rusted that they would do nothing but strip when I tried to losen them. Thus I had to go buy a hack saw and cut through each nut and bolt in order to get the old ones off. I do not have a dremel tool here at school and was too poor to be able to afford one. Needless to say my back kills from lying on the concrete that long. But the good news is that I have my new mufflers on and the car sounds great. A nice deep tone that is pretty quiet, except for the really loud backfire. Only thing is that one of the mufflers hangs lower than the other. Anyone have any ideas as to why that might be?? Anyway that was my big adventure for the day and now it is time to rest my tired bones in bed.

See, this is why I hardly ever bother to post here. Cause no one ever replies. Not even gee that sucks man, or that is really too bad, or a well done. Whatever, I've been here over a year now and still no one knows who I am.

just kiddin. I know what ya mean though. Laying on your back sucks when working no cars. I hate having to try and skootch around on my back. As far as one muffler anging lower, check your muffler hangers.

There are lots of posts every day. If yours doesn't get noticed the first time just give it the old "bump" till it gets noticed. The guys that may know something about it may not be on the site that day.

Anyway working on the ground in parking lots without the right tools and no money. Been there done that. Don't have to do it any more =)

Did you get all of the exhaust hangars back on? I took my exhaust off once and those round rings that hold the back of the muffler up were a BIG PAIN to put back on.

I did get them all back on, but they are pretty stretched out so I think I may need to get some new ones. Also, one of the mufflers hangs lower than the other so I think I may have bent the y-pipe up some in getting the old mufflers off and now need to bend it back down to push the muffler tip up.

Oh, and thanks for the replys, don't mind me, I just get pissy sometimes!

Noooo...

That's not what I wanted to hear :-)

I just tore out my exhaust system to get at the driveline of my car (TII conversion!), and was wondering how hard it was gonna be to get those little rubber doughnuts back on there!

Oh well...

Congrats!

No, no, it was not hard. They went back on without any trouble. It was just that they are a little stretched so they don't stay on as well as they should so I need one or two new ones.

Yours must be really streched. To get the last one on I put a wire thru the donught, pushed the muffler toward the mount with my foot while pulling HARD to get it to go back on. It was the exact same system I had taken off (to pull the trans) so it wasn't miss shaped or anything.
