I have seen a lot of cars in Japan that are still using the MAF and have the filter on the turbo. They lengthen the wires and install it in the track of the FMIC. But this requires you to have a FMIC but its an idea. Just open a Hyper Rev and look at how many do this.

Well I know my piping isn't 3" so will that have any negative effects by having to get reducers there? Also, has anyone done this on an FC?

Even if you don't have an airflow meter in the turbo intake piping, it's still a really stupid place to put a filter. The turbo will be sucking air from the hottest part of the engine bay! Not only is it right on top of the hot turbo, most of that air has just come through the radiator. If you think a short TID is going to cost you some power, it won't be nearly as much as what you'll lose from sucking in air that hot.

Heat is a cumulative thing.. if its hotter going into the turbo it's going to be hotter coming out of the turbo and the intercooler would have to disapate more heat with it may/may not be able to do.

What he said. Basically if you drop the air intake temp by say 10deg, it'll be 10deg cooler when it reaches the engine than it was before.

although mounting the AFM after the turbo may have more power benifits, because it is an Air Flow Meter and there is alot more flow after the turbo, there for telling the engine to use more fuel....correct me if I'm wrong, though I'm sure you will anyway

No it won't.

No there isn't. Airflow after the turbo is exactly the same as airflow before the turbo. Basic law of physics. A turbo is basically just a pump that pulls air in one side and pushes the same amount out the other. Because there's a huge restriction after the turbo (the engine) the discharge pressure is high. Don't confuse airflow with pressure; they're quite different.
