Fianlly got some miles on it - s5 n/a with a buncha work done t it
I bought an s5 n/a, its brave blue mica and needed a lot of work when I bought it. I spent the first 5 months of ownership doing nothing on it to speak of, and then when I moved back home where it was stored the adventure began. I removed the engine and foolishly took it apart planning to rebuild it and reinstall, but then I got scared and decided to buy an engine (oops there went my core). So I got and engine with a street port 2 from Atkins, took my time and rebuilt it and replaced anything that looked bad, or I couldn't clean up. Finally installed it after more than a year and spent another year replacing other parts. When the economy took a crap I had to stop working on it (I had burnt out on it by then after almost 2.5 yrs of nonstop work). Got a gf and kinda ignored the car for about 2 years. Now with my interest restarted I began working on it to install the new stereo and gauge mount I fab'd out of steel. Got it all installed fixed some other annoying things like wiper switch and the TPS which runs exactly at specs thank god. Drove it about 130 miles in the past 4 days and had some major issues with it yesterday. I think I have a short in the stereo since pulling the audio fuse and unplugging the main power cord seems to have rid me of the problem. I have the stereo plugged into the battery direct (has a 15 amp fuse inline) with the second constant (has a smaller 3 amp fuse) going to a different source and the ground going to the ECU coverplate top post and nut. I think this should be a sufficient ground should it not? If not should I go direct to the battery or to a place on the car that I already have something grounded? Like the one right by the ECU under the ECU coverplate? Or the one on the firewall inside the engine bay right above the air conditioner line on the passenger side?
Anyways, so I am SUPER psyched about driving her around she sounds great with the RB true dual exhaust. I have to go no higher than 3500 RPM's for first 500 miles and then gain 500 RPM's a week to redline or 3000 miles more. I really can't wait to open her up and feel what she can do, and possibly find more problems to fix. After the break in period I am going to get an rtek stage 2 probably just so I can control the fuel and all the variables and hopefully get her running with max efficiency and power. Once again I want to thank everyone who made it possible here on the forum, its amazing to have this much tech support and knowledge at my fingers.
