Those things a quick. With the right driver they can be very fast and very good handling.

0-58 mph is under 6 seconds (must shift into 3rd for 60, so 0-60 is like high 6, low 7)

The car has an odd control because of the rear (mid) engine. If you take a turn too hard you will start to lose the front end, but think fast cause if you mash the throttle, I hear the tq of the motor will put more weight on the front wheels, so if you start to loose it, mash the throttle and see what happens... wierd...

I dont know what you can do with your car, maybe a jspec motor swap??? Still a tough call.

Those cars handle AMAZING. At the Solo2 Nationals this year, in CSP, every car but 1 I believe was an MR2. They handle great, but VERY different than our cars. Mainly cause of the mid-engine. The problem is they have more weight in the rear, so the back tends to snap out, instead of drift out like our cars. Gotta be careful, but with the right driver, stock for stock, and MR2 can outhandle the RX-7. They are however heavy. The don't look heavy, but they well well over 3000lbs. The Turbo's have 200hp, and they are pretty torquey. So if you get your car to 190-200hp, you'll definently be in the same league as him. You'll need full exhaust for sure, Headers back. Intake of course. You'll want to remove all your belts, weight reduction etc. I'm sure if you mod your car properly you'd be able to take him. As long as he is stock. If he starts modding that thing, then your toast no matter what you do, unless you get a J-spec engine or something.
