FD Wheel Spacing

I know this is covered a lot (not as much as NA>Turbo though, hehe) but I wanted to see what spacers people were using, where they got them, and how much they payed from them. From SEARCHING, I was that COrksport sells a set, for nearly $250. And I've seen them sell used for around $200.

Searching around the net, I would that H&R was the big wheel spacer manufactuer. However, there Mazda stuff is strictly 4x100. I did some digging and found that the Supra/Celica has a 60.2mm centerbore, very close to the FC 59.6mm. Those spacers, in 25mm, I have seen for around $150. True hubcentric is nice...but is it $100 extra nice?!?

Anyway, thoughs/opinions/used setups/etc.

Thanks.

Are you putting FD wheels on an FC or did you name the title wrong? anyways, H&R's trak wheel spacers are expensive but good. just buy the Mazda 929's wheel spacers as they will fit exactly on an FC. I got my wheel spacers custom made off ebay for 80 bucks a pair and they work great.

Yes, FD Wheels on FC

7th Heaven: Do you still have the ebay seller name? That price sounds very nice.

Here's where to buy the H&R ones... http://www.livermoreperformance.com/...l_spacers.html

and one of the funniest project FC's i've ever read about including the guy putting on FD wheels on his FC (see part 11) - note though Rays (volk racing) doesnt make the spacers anymore =\

And this is where I got mine: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2493942970

i saw he doesnt have any on sale for the moment, but he did receive some feedback this past week so shoot him an email and he'll make some for you. these are the specs i gave him:

bolt pattern - 5x114.3
threads - 12x1.5
center bore - 60mm
width - 25mm or 1 inch (not the same, one is bigger)

i could have gone away with 22mm spacers, it all depends on how wide of a tire you use with the FD rims...

Crispy - thanks for the writeups. Informative and interesting at the same time. Whats the status of RC?

Bump for FD wheel knowledge

Question for those running the FD wheels, did you have to use spacers on front AND rear or just front? I've heard varying opinions where some people say you can get away with no spacers on the rear, but it seems like the fronts would stick out a bunch more than the rear that way and it'd look funny.

What do you guys do? Pictures?

cafcwest,
RC is doing dandy. Car was used in it's first autox a few eeks ago. Wa faster than everything except 2 FD's (one a single T and one driven by a veteran autoxer) and Brians 13B powered MG midget. Of course the oil level buzzer was screaming the whoel time - stupid oil slosh problem with FC's adn the rearview mirror decided to fall off halfway through a run but all in all given the half assed alignment and very rough tune I was quite pleased...well at least it didn't blow up or anything. I have enough material for two more pages to wrap up the RC story. Things like set of 'vert rims with track tires, an AL hood, and some minor coolant system repairs. Will post when I get a chance to write the pages. I will also air my dirty laundry and post the final tally for the cost to build the car.

dDub,
You do not need the spacers on the rear. However, the track will be different front to rear and the car will IMO look stupid with the front wheels sticking way out and the rears tucked well into the wheel wells. There is also a small negative affect on handling given the difference in the track also.
FWIW

Yep, i would get 2 pairs of spacers so they all look even. right now i have spacers up front but none in the rear, theyre sitting in my garage, i still need to get around to putting them on. it doesnt look THAT bad but its noticeable.
