I have never driven an FD with working stock sequentials. Now the big TT FD I drove at an scca event was the shiznit.

It would be cheaper to go with a trick hybrid and get more power than do FD stock TT. Too much money you would have to throw at fab work.

not end of story--you just aren't making enough power to stress the motor. FD setups are great at 300 rwhp, 350 is pushing it, and in trying to make 400---well, detonation happens . Water injection is the boosted rotary's friend......

Water injection is a bandaid fix for high EGT's, plus it cuts out a major % of carbon deposites on the internals. Proper tuning is the best thing, but there is also some reassurace running 18 psi on pump gas knowing that the water injection comes on at 16 and you don't have to worry about collapsing your compression springs b/c of high EGT's. If you get over 420 RWHP and run bunches of boost, why not have a little security?

Oh, also-when I was referring to the rwhp output on stock twins, I was quoting Chris and Ari over at Rotary Performance. I think I trust their judgement over yours. Nothing personal .

Nah, it's just that working 16 hours days kinda has priority of replying to you.
Don't take that as an insult.

BNR hinted on the water injection thing...

BDC made 499 at the wheels, and I believe that was without water injection.
Hell, that was on a 13BT block, not a 13B-REW one.
So according to your statements, that motor should not be running by now?
Why don't you two go compare notes and leave me out of this.

Since you're such pals with Mr. Kan, maybe you should ask him?

Ask the FD guys?
Oh you gotta be kidding me.
Most of them are idiots in the first place.

Nice smokescreen.

I don't expect you to admit that you're wrong. This all started with your post about the stock twins being crap, so right there you lose all credibility.

Ah, talk about smokescreen...

I guess you never read the rules about insulting other members and keeping your incindary comments to yourself.

Respect for BDC?
Okay, now I know where you're coming from.

Stock FD twins are crap?
Sure, I still stand by that statement.
Is it worth the $3,000+ that the stock Mazda dealer wants to replace them for?
No.
Almost any single will smoke the twins in terms of power output, even broad power range.
The only think a single is not going to beat the stock twins is how early it boosts.
Well, the dyno graphs don't lie, and the power delivery is surely not linear.
In fact, I know a former FD owner who used to bitch about how crappy the power delivery was with the stock twins - think about it.

Welp, you just affirmed what I think about most FD owners...<edited for flaming>

Nice way to skirt the 499hp question - that makes you full of ****.

Now go away an go play with your FD "elistists" in the 3rd gen section.
You obviously don't belong in here.
Go away.
