FD Steering Wheel In An FC

I remember reading somewhere (maybe on eBay) that somebody had a FD steering wheel that was altered to fit in a FC... I was just wondering if anybody knows if this is possible or what needs to be done for this to work. I searched, and didn't find anything, although I might have been looking up the wrong thing.

I'm just wondering because I'd like to get rid of my huge steering wheel, and was wondering if this were an option besides aftermarket steering wheels. Thanks for any help.

What's wrong with an aftermarket steering wheel?

Don't FD steering wheels come with airbags???

The stock FD wheels is big also ( due to airbag ), it is a bit smaller . But not worth it.

I picked up a jdm land FD wheel, as it doesnt have the airbag it looks smaller ( and is actually smaller by a few mm ) .

But If you are going to buy a FD wheel , might as well buy an nice aftermarket one.

my 2 cents

There is this FD momo wheel. It's airbag-less, and has a nice slim 3 spoke design. I've seen it on a few FC's before.

I'm pretty sure the FD steering wheel hub is the same as the FC's as well as the Protege and Miata's. Any of those should fit.

The JDM FD wheels without airbags tend to go for ridiculous prices. If you're cheap and don't want to spend a lot of money on a Momo, etc, some of the Grant wheels look/feel pretty good and have fairly good quality (eg. better than APC, etc.). I discovered that they could be found both new and used on Ebay for a good price.

It was a just a question that I was wondering... and yes I know that I wouldn't be able to wire up the airbag. I was just thinking that the steering wheel was a good bit smaller, but appartently I was wrong. Just a thought that was floating through my head.

I'm probably going to end up getting an aftermarket steering wheel if I go ahead and change it out anytime soon.

That's actually the one that I was thinking of. I think it looks extremely clean, and a lot more "modern" than the stock FC wheel. I actually saw one on eBay today, but it only had 20 seconds left on it... should have grabbed it. *kick*kick*

What type of FD came with the wheel that was black leather with silver stitching and it had a shiny MAZDA flying M emblem in the center? Thats the one I want for my FC.
