FD LIM and UIM on S4?

I know about the S5 LIM with the adapter for the FD UIM. I was curious how hard it would be to adapt the LIM to a S4 motor. I have only seen it done once before. I was curious how different the flanges are on a FD vs a FC S4.

Don't you wonder why there is an adapter for the FD UIM? That's because it's the easier adapter to make, the FD and FC lower are way different on the block.

One main problem is that the FD LIM and side housings have significantly different shaped port runners (larger). As it is, the s5 is noticeably bigger than the s4. Even if you port match the edge of the s4 side housing to the s6 LIM, the rest of the runner is too small on the s4.

Also, the FD LIM has uneven length runners and FD owners do ditch them for aftermarket manifolds.

Its so much easier to ask, people forget about the search option.

But as stated above, if you wanted to use a FD uim, your EASIEST best is get a S5 LIM ( goes on S4 block easily ) buy an adapter and be done with it.

I find this kind od swap works great if you have an aftermarket ecu to use the full range FD TPS sensor. If your going to use your stock S4 ecu I would stick with what you have. you wont see GAINS per say from the Amount of cash you put into it.

I was going to get a really good deal on a whole FD intake setup LIM, UIM, and TB. That was the only reason I was asking. I was goin to search but posting a thread was so much easier. LOL I didn't know that the runners on the FD LIM were uneven. And I have a standalone so no I would not be using a stock ECU. I met a guy who had a whoel FD intake setup on an FC motor and it looked real clean, at first I thought it was a S5 LIM but it wasn't after I looked at it for a bit. I remember he told me he drilled new hole and made a new gasket for it. I wish I could find the pics that I took of the setup... Thanks guys for answering my question.
