Fd intercooler on a FC

Has anyone ever heard of using a FD intercooler on
a FC? In the front mount position for a street car
running 12lbs of boost and A/C. If not what is a suitable
intercooler for this application. Will a greedy work without
blocking the AC condensor.
Thanks in advance

This is just advice from an FD owner giving you some insight. Lots of people upgrade their SMIC's to larger ones from Pettit, M2, etc, for a reason. This includes hard driven street cars. The FD's intercooler is just too small to be of any use. The surface area is small, and really won't effectively support more than the stock 10 psi that's run thru the system. You're better off choosing something a little more large. However, if money is an issue, then you'll do what you have to do. This is just my personal opinion.

Not really a money issue, although I am not rich.
Just wanting to see about a smaller intercooler
so I dont block up the AC condenser. I owned a
corvette one time and it would go through a
few AC compresors because of lack of air moving
across the condenser.

There are a few that u can use with the a/c. The NPR ic's work well, or u could find something smaller to front mount.

That starion IC will beat the **** out of a stock FD IC.. simply has more surface area for heat transfer .

I thought I read somewhere that starion IC's aren't much better than a stock FC's IC.

personally i think barel looking at the physical dimension of an IC can't do much performance measurement/judgement. easiet and most convenient way I believe is to weight them to get the mass of it as heat transfer capability, and do a flow test to check for head loss.

The FD intercooler does actually outflow the FC's (i.e. less pressure drop at the same flow), but it's core is much smaller, so it would be less effective at cooling the air, which is what it's supposed to be there for. There's no way you should consider this as an upgrade for a modded engine.
