FD alt into FC need help

I'm in the proccess of doing this swap and I got my pulley finally from banzai. I noticed when I barely tightened the pulley in just a little, the pulley would barely spin or be very hard to spin. Am I supposed to apply any kind of grease or something on to the FD alt shaft or is it supposed to just plug right in and tighten? Anyone else had this problem before?

I'm guessing that the pulley itself is spinning and not the shaft. Tighten it down until the shaft spins, not the pulley. But to be safe, take the pulley off and check if the shaft spins on the alternator.

Both the shaft and pulley spin together even before I tighten it down and very smoothly as well. But once I tighten it down it becomes ridiculously hard to turn but both is still turning.

I bumped into two other issues after I put the alternator in and was hoping someone had similar issues. The first is that my dummy lights are still on. The second is that the pulley is squeeling somewhat loud and the pulley got ridiculously hot fast. Is this normal or could it be because the belt isn't aligned or something? It looked like it was lined up to me. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I'm betting the pulley is getting real hot because it's not tightened down all the way. The squeel is probably the pulley spinning independent of the alternator. Unless you used an impact wrench to tighten down the pulley then you are going to have a hard time fully tightening the bolt down.

I'm not sure what you're referring to with the dummy light. I assume you mean the idiot cluster on the dash? I never had that issue when I did my swap. But I wouldn't be surprised if the pulley is spinning free of the alt shaft and the alt isn't fully perfroming it's job.

if i remember right, arent you suposed to use a small spacer behind the pulley so it doesnt hit the casing of the alt.

You can either shave down the "lip" on the alternator or Kevin Landers madea good suggestion about using the same washers as used on your oil cooler lines as a spacer.

ah I used a washer to space it so I'm just assuming its what the other guy said because I hand tightened it and not impacted. Well I won't be able to do it until tomorrow because no shops being open so I'll update about it tomorrow. Thanks for tvhe info.

Is this a Banzaitoyota pulley? All you need to do is make a spacer the same size as the one out of a FC alternator from under the stock pulley with a larger inner diameter.

We have been getting a slew of emails lately from people asking where their pulley is.... Just to clarify we do NOT sell pulleys, we are not Banzaitoyota, and he is not part of our company.

Sorry for the confusion. I forgot there are two Banzai's on here and I meant to say Banzaitoyota and this has nothing to do with any product from Banzai-Racing. Yeah I already did the spacer trick so I'm just hoping that it's because I didn't impact it on. I'll be trying it a little later today.

So I had the autoshop impact the pulley on alt with a washer on the inside to space the alt from it and finally got to catch the car crank in daylight and I just noticed that the pulley isn't spinning at all. Is it possible to make it too tight or is my alt dead?
