t2 to beat stock FD? Here's my engine mod list, and it's up to the task according to the previous owner (who bought it from his friend, who also had a 3rd gen and they would race each other)

Exhaust (apexi N1 single)
Downpipe
Midpipe
Open intake (K&N cone)
660cc secondaries
remapped engine computer (gforce)
fuel pump
street port

This setup makes 10lbs of boost, spikes to 12 sometimes in higher gears. I try not to stomp on it in the higher gears (esp 5th)
shouldn't do 12 for any length of time without a FMIC, the top mount is junk

This is on a series 5 motor, which has the better turbo (as I understand it) and a much better wastegate, which doesn't make more power, it just keeps your from overboosting and making things go snap crackle pop

oh yeah, no airpump. I put a high-flow bonez cat on, because I was afraid the unburnt fuel smell coming from the car might get me in trouble. Didn't put the airpump back on tho, but the cat seems ok... try no airpump on a stock cat and you'll melt the sucker

gene your T2 should be faster than a stock FD. most stock fd's put down around 200-210 rwhp. most less cause they aren't running 100%

I don't know what's all these fears about racing FDs. A while back,
my mods were:
upgraded fuel pump
720cc secondaries
Kenne Belle Boost-a-Pump
yanked all emissions
pure pre-mix
remapped ECU
Apexi SAFC (tuned on dyno)
set at 13 psi

I pulled on an FD and he couldn't catch up. The dyno shows where your power peaks out and you shift from there.
Now with all the other mods, I can't seem to get anyone to bite. I'm not a great driver but I do know where my power is. Anyone can boast about their car having 500 horsepower but if you don't know when to shift, all that power is worthless. There are some boneheads running 15's in the 1/4 mile with their FDs and they're wondering what's wrong with their car. Hmmm....

Well, I haven't raced a stock FD yet. There's an FD I raced at autox who's also in ASP class with me (which isn't really fair) and he beat me badly with no engine mods. He was on slicks though, and is probably a better driver. He's an old guy with more experience, I've only been autoxing my FC for one season.

here's the shitty part tho, an FD with the same mods will be putting down 270+ at the rear wheels! (According to M2's advertising anyhow) Of course, a stock FD used is 12k plus for a good one, my t2 with all the mods included was 4k

How shitty is it that all rx7 turbos are kept in the same ASP class in scca racing? Of course, the way I read the rules, it's possible to put an FD motor in mine and stay in ASP...

I agree...since i have an Apexi intake I am now up against 3 tricked out FDs from the Cincy RX-7 club and it sucks. Their cars handle better out of the box then ours and upgrades give them signifigantly more power.

Oh well...at least I plan on killing them in the corners. I am dumping most of my money in suspension hardware after I fix my engine.

yeah I need suspension goodies badly, I'm still running on the stock 11-year old suspension. Make sure to do some fuel mods to that engine when you do the exhaust, or your motor will go kaboom

No doubt. FCD, Walbro fuel pump and EGT gauge are my "to-buy" list. I cannot believe how much money I'm going to sink into my car in the next few months. I'm actually contemplating selling plasma at $30-$50 a session or donating sperm in order to give me a little extra dough.

J-Spec or Atkins Rebuilt- $1000-$2000
SS Oil Cooler Hoses- $100
RPS Clutch $250
Racing Beat Springs $250
Boost, EGT, Water temp gauges- $200
Exhaust welding- $150
TID- $10
FCD $80
Fuel Pump- $100
Performance Brake Pads for Driving Schools- $100
P-Zero Tires- $500

I can't believe how much all this **** is going to cost me. What's even funnier is I don't even have a job right now and my car is sitting in the middle of Kentucky. I hope my engine problem is just a stuck apex-seal and that the ATF trick can take care of it. I figure $3500 will get my car to where I want it...

Anyone know how to get into the Coke-dealing business?!

I have a small turbo upgrade (smaller than a T04 compressor), a 2.5" to 2" dual exhaust, and an HKS intake, and my car runs 14.12 @ 97 mph. That's almost stock FD times, and I have a stock clutch and a bad second gear synchro...not to mention I only run 6 pounds of boost.

With the turbo upgrade I have, 6 psi is the same as 10 or 11 on a stock one, or so I am told.

Great...I just died laughing, and I have a bunch of **** to do today.

I'd drag you if the race started with you outside your car with your keys in your pocket.
