FC OE wheels.

Yo.

Not familiar with ALL of the wheels ever offered on FC's from the factory, so I was wondering if someone can give me a rundown of them...

Bologna Cutter - 5 lug, 15 inch, typically seen on GXL.
Phone Dial - 4 lug, 14 inch, typically seen on base.
Turbo II - 5 lug, 16 inch, 10 spoke, Seen on T2's (Duh) available in white on 10AE...
S5 GTU - 5 lug, 15 inch, pseudo 10 spoke
Vert - 5 lug, BBS style, frequently stolen center caps...
5 spoke light weight - 5 lug

I know there's one missing and it's not seen on the following link either...

http://www.mazdarecycling.com/html/wheels.asp

Can someone tell me about them? Look to be a 7 spoke variation of the Turbo II wheels, 16 inch, date code stamped 1988 IIRC. I'll inspect them a little closer in the daylight tomorrow. If I can find the camera, snap a few pics.

Why are these never seen on any other RX-7? IIRC the only 5 lug vehicles in 1988 were the RX-7, 626, 929, and the MPV minivan.

I've got the 5 star wheels listed as the light weights, as I've heard they're lighter than even the BBS Vert wheels which I was told were the lightest available OE for the FC.

I've never seen a T2 with any other OE wheel aside from the 10 spoke. Are you saying that the First T2 in 1987 had 5 spoke, the 88 T2 had 7spoke, and the S5's only got 10 spoke?

Doesn't make sense because I've seen the 10AE wheels from 1988 and they have 10 spokes...

No, the '91 5 star wheels are 15 lbs each... the vert wheels are only 11 lbs

and the 8810thAE came with 7 spoke. if you saw 10 spoke the it was a pianted wheel

I also updated the FAQ for FC with wheels with what pic s I had

Gotcha... Yeah. The ones I saw were on one of Stickgoat's 10AE's... And I realized they were regular T2 wheels not even painted. Angle on my LCD made em look white...

In your FAQ you list the 10 Spoke as 1988. But here you say teh 7 spoke as 1988... Was it a half year change?

Finally! Someone knows the weight of the '91 star wheels. Pretty light at 15lbs.

This is so weird, I've had bbs vert rims in my hand and then 91 coupe wheels in my hand a couple days later and I could have sworn the 91 5 stars were seriously close to the BBS for weight, much lighter than 15 lbs, but then again I didn't use a scale. I should take mine off, dismount one of the tires and weigh the wheel because 15 seems like way too much judging by the one I picked up. It felt less than the phone dial rim I lifted one day, which was sitting in the back of a base model FC at the junk yard.

after about 10-15 lbs most people have a difficult time judging a 4 lbs difference.

is everyone but asjuper7 forgetting the S5 TII/GTUs wheel? The mesh-style 16" wheels (not like vert wheels) with lugnut look-alike center caps.

An aluminium 4 lug is available, right? I'm gonna steal (Not really.) one from a local junkyard if I find it. What would it have come on?

Also an aluminium jack would be cool...

My 1st gen is getting 4 lug FC suspension, brakes, and R&P steering.

Are these wheels worth anything? I probably won't be able to get a 5 lug rear end on my car. eBay or a local buyer might want em...

I'm gonna polish em up first.

My old 87 base had those ugly steel, 4 lug, rims. I think they came on 323s also.

You are lucky if you can get $200 for a set, and most sets go for around $100. The BBS 15x6.5 tend to get the best as they are light and also fit MR2s and 240s and people get them for racing.
