FC intercooler
I've been looking for a little for an aftermarket intercooler that uses the stock top mount position. I found an R Magic one a while ago, but can't find it since. WOndering if anyone else came across them. thanks

Unfortunately those guys are right, the upgraded top mounts still don't solve the fundemental problems with the IC. What most companies (RE-Amemiya, R-Magic, etc.) do is just add on to the end of the intercooler, this doesn't help because the area that is added on has no opening or air flow to it and is rendered useless. On top of that you still have the problem of heat soak.

Just to give you on what's out there...on eBay.
Damn cheap, knock-off bar-n-plate cores are a little over $100.
They have "universal" IC pipe kits for like around $200.
Go to Home Depot and buy a bunch of hose connectors.
Now you got a REAL front-mount for very little money.
It'll beat, hands down, any upgrade TMIC available.

I can get you any of them if you REALLY wanted one but the amount of money these things cost isn't nearly worth it for the 0 gain you would get.

ok ok so....the horizontal mount setup with ducting from radiator UP to the intercooler OUT through the R-magic type hood would u say that its going to cool better?

I'm not sure where hole in the r-magic hood is, but you cant assume that theres just going to be room right under that hole for an intercooler + mounting + piping. It will require some cutom fabbing, cutting, and welding for sure, but if you can do it it'll be sweet so go for it.

no no not a v-mount i dont wanna tilt the radiator the radiator would be in stock position and the intercooler would be as such:
see how hes got the ducting:
see i hear rumors of the air tahts flowing throught the radiator being hot....well id like to ask if anyone can claim this being true enough to INHIBIT this setup? i was under the impression there is a difference between horizontal mounts and V-mounts

I know a guy who stuff the biggest Spearco core possible (back a few years ago) 2-179? 2-192? 2-197? On his stock turbo FC - the car lagged like a bitch and never made more than 3psi.

good god thats just not smart. you do need a balanced system when it comes to intercooling systems. thats its right up there with importance of the proper turbo size for whatever it is that youre looking for as far as use is concerned. i have a **** load of piping, but i still retained stock accessories. but, i make way more than 3psi. in fact, i think i over boost my turbo at times and my lag isnt too bad either. but, my intercooler is only 6" tall by 28" or so wide. (still retained the front bumper support). but, the only way i would even consider doing stock tmic in the front mount position is if you got two stock tmic in the front. you have to remember its not ONLY air flowing through the cooling fins, but the amount of air that can be stuffed through the intercooler core itself. that stock tmic cant flow **** compared to a decent fmic set up. i would go with what reted stated up there. get some intercooler piping from ebay, get some couplers from home depot, and a 150 dollar core. you have spent just about 500 dollars at this point, and if you do it right, youre set up for well over 300hp. or, you can get all the piping, put the tmic in front, and be set up for about 250 tops. and youre not going to get NEARLY the cold air charge that you would get with a decent fmic. my intercooler is short and long, but that thing flows well over 1400cfm. i think my welder had it flow tested at just about 1700cfm. its ******* nuts, and the stock tmic flows about 375 or 400 cfm (can anyone confirm this??). so, youre also talking about air circulation as well as cooling through the fins.
