You mean the plastic surround that sits inside the stamped metal of the hood? Someone with a trashed TII hood should have that still, keep asking around.

A company out of Canada makes a fiberglass replica molded from the stock hoodscoop & insert... which you'll need to bond to an NA or TII hood. Do a search for "fiberglass scoop" on this section and you should see the link.

You could also get a carbon fiber insert from Speed Machine Performance. Ask for Dave.

Yeah, You could go with one of those, but the quality sucks and it's overpriced.

It'd be nice if someone actually improved the hoodscoop so that it brought in more air instead of just making it nicer all the time. Like take a look at subaru's hoodscoops, they're ******* huge compared to ours, someone needs to make one like that for better airflow. Then again im no engineer so im sure theres some sort of downside to this?

Just a question... but what happen to your scoop? It's not like it actually comes off or anything....or are you one of those N/A guys wanting a Turbo hood? Ahhhh, I see what's really going on here!

Maybe he's like me and did a TII swap and doesn't have the insane amount of money retards think they're old and busted TII hoods are worth. So maybe he's trying to make his own.

are there any different hoodscopes that work on the TIIs? I mean, it would help quite a bit I would assume, since the TMIC does suck juevos, that extra air must help quite a bit.

I know if I was one of those N/A guys I'd want a Turbo hood. Looks better.

Personally I'd rather stick with my aluminium N/A hood. Once I do a TII swap, I'll still keep the smooth N/A hood, and use an FMIC. Total Sleeper.
Have you looked through your local Pick n Pull? When I'm looking for a hard to find part, I drop by every couple of days, because the stock is always changing.

You have to add some "BEEFY LOOKS" to go with the "BEEFY POWER." A stock looking 1986 SE with a TII swap is just wrong. The 86 SE should have that "Gen 1 - mid 1980s" feel / look with the plad seats, rear lovers (slotted hatch window shade), phone dial rims, stupid "shift light".. and all the features/quirks that went with the model & time.

This was already covered. Bigger scoops dont always mean more air and sometimes they mean less air. I searched this a lot and so far thats what the smart guys say and what the internet says. Its only the guys with no clue who always say they can design things better even they dont have any education or proof. Also there is no proof that teh stock intercooler doesnt get enough air and according to the internet the stock scoop is the right size but just in teh wrong place. NZ still never got his beer as far as I know, and thats just wrong in my book.

The correct information that I find on the internet that is actually useful could barely fill the pathetic cupholders on the glovebox of my FC.

Case in point: When I finished my TII swap, it wouldn't start. Spark=OK, Fuel=OK. The injectors weren't firing though. Everyone said to do this and that and take all this **** apart. 5secs after posting the thread, I realized that I forgot to plug in the 'other' 2 plugs from the engine harness into the body harness(up by the firewall, inside the car). Plug'em in and she fired up on the first try. Not a single person said to check that, knowing that it was a swap with harness and ECU.

People can throw ideas all they want, but most don't have a ******* clue unless they are truly in your shoes.

Hood scoops rule, at least I can tell you that as soon as I have one.

Ya, I had an NA, but I've put a JDM S5 engine in. The TII hood that I bought didn't have the plastic part with it, that is why I need to find a replacement.

Well if you're talking about the little rubber gasket thingy that hangs on under the hood to make a good seal with the TMIC, I still have one from my old hood. Let me know if that's what you need.
[edit] I just realized which piece you're talking about..that little piece that goes in front of the scoop. I definitely don't have that. Good luck! [/edit]

Not that the TMIC is all that bad, but we should all should become rich and run VMIC or FMIC!

You might be interested to know that the hood scoop on the new WRX STi just released in Japan has been lowered in height by 19mm. It was impacting on aerodynamics, and even Subaru admitted it was stating to look a bit silly...
