My name is Bill & I am a rotary addict. (meeting attendees say: "Hi Bill")

I bought my 87 on in a garage sale.
Then I got seduced by the elegance & power band of the rotary engine.
Drove it to 220,000 miles, sold it & bought a 91 (VDI yummy).
At 160,000 I got turbo envy, found a turbo, sold the NA.
Now it's boost envy, port envy, FMIC envy, standalone envy, suspension envy...

All this for under $6000.

Talking

I like the fd body a lot more just don't want to deal with the hassles and unreliability. Not to mention the price tag. I'm on my 4th 7 now. 2 fb's and now I have 2 fc's.(I'm going to look at a 3rd tonight, the wifes not impressed,OH WELL.LOL) How could you not love just about anything with a rotor?

ill admit i do dream of having an FD some day. BUT!!! i love my FC more than my family and have put enough money into it so i dont regret ever buying one but that is the initial reason for buying the FC.

FC because they are sexy.

I love my car.
I had always dreamed of getting a rotary engined car, and I had always loved mazda and RX7s. They had the ***** to do what nobody else had the ***** to do; put the future of their entire company behind a new and super cool technology. I had ben saving up for a laptop and my friend was like dude my old car is for sale. I knew that he used to own a RX7 and we had always talked about it. he had fixed it up and then sold it to his friend. So we drove 4 1/2 hours to see it and I fell in love. I drove him back the next day and bought the car and I drove it home!

I bought mine from my sisters boyfriend, who'd painted it black and in doing so, stripped all of the badges so if you didn't know what you were looking at, there wasn't any telling what it was. I didn't know what it was.....but the first time I drove my TII, holy shiz it took me for a ride.

That was 7 years ago, and I've been in love ever since....

i guess i throw my old story in

i was 12 when i first checked out the FC i fell in love and it was my dream car....in mid 03 i found an 88T2 for sales on a fourm i live in San Antonio TX this car was in cali(riverside) i had jsut been sitting for a long time this colledge dood bought it it didint go into gear and he sold it to me for 2k...well...i lived in tx.. ijust got this car and it was broken..kinda...well a dood on the fourms by the name of guitarjunke picked her up for me...fixed her and replaced some broken parts for free considering my dad was MIA for some time in Iraq( his C-130 incountered issues...and i hadnt herd from him in like 5 months) i got her fixed and had her shipped....well..6 days later she got wrecked by some ********* that didnt break for me at an intersection....she was then down and out for 3 months while i got all my billing **** outta da way..i had lee tuscano (650hp-ish 10sec NON ported local Rotary dood) fix her cuz she wouldnt stay on...( i learned some things on taht adventure) paid 300 bucks to get the body work fixed and a nice guy from OHIO greyhound expressed me a fender and door from a GTU...well shes back and now she possibly has a clogged cat cuz the airpump is gone and the ACV isnt blocked..and im using original 88 exhuast...

THAT is how i got into the FC truly...blood sweat and tears....
BTW i dont really care too much for the FD anymore...as its ok..but an FC can be just as good but CHEAPER!

Do you guys call FC old school?? FCs are old, but to me, old school is something like RX2/3/4/5 but not 7. When I was looking for a car I didn't think about TII/FD (they were under my budget though) because I wanted (still now) to ride NA But If I knew I had a option to build a NA FD, I could buy a FD since this is my 2nd FC.

My sister bought my '87 brand new. She didn't drive it a whole lot and never drove it hard, lived in Arizona so it never saw snow. It was never wrecked either. You can never be sure about the treatment of your car before you bought it but I'm sure about this one.
Just after I bought my SA, she called me offering it to me for 7K (in 1997) because she was pregnant and needed something bigger. I declined as i already had a sports car. She called every couple of months always 1K lower in price than the time before. When she got to 3K the following year, I got it (stole it really) and been happy as hell with it ever since. It had under 50K miles when I bought it and other than some typical FC probs was in perfect shape.
Also, 3 years ago at sevenstockwas when I first saw the engine compartment of an FD. No way will ever own a car with 50 Lbs of **** in a 10Lb container.

i love the FD's but i cant afford one. but i never got into knowing what a rotary was until in '98. my dad gave me his 83 rx7 and i just fell in love with it. drove it til '01 when i wrecked it. for 2 yrs i looked to find a body to replace but noone was selling and i couldnt afford to go to other states. then my bro had a friend that was selling his FC (not knowing it was a FC) and when i saw it - i was in love again. test drove and it ran beautifully. paid only $1500 (imho it was a steal) since then it's been nutin but fun

the 80s is kinda getting into old school territory just like the Rolling stones. the Rx2 is sorta getting into "grandparents listening to polka" school.

It's because the FC is older than most of the kids buying them these days.

I currently have a FC because my first RX-7 was a FC, and I loved it, even after getting a FD.

when i first saw them, I absolutly hated the look, then a friend got one and I helped him put in a new TII motor and somehow over time I absolutly fell in love with it, so I got my own.

yah, I pulled all the badges off mine, and when I was running it with Temporary plates I used to park in my college lot without a ID tag so I would come out and the ticket (college ticket, means nothing) would have my temp plate which gets replaced every 10 days with a new one and everything on the ticket will be filled out like:

Make: Unknown
Model: Unknown
Bodystyle: Unknown

ha, have fun trying to pin that on me .. people do mistake it for a ford probe most of the time though.
