Fate.....
Well recently I was in an accident on my way to work in my vert. Damage wasnt too bad, was just gonna replace the door and fron fender. Cosmetic work was in process when suddenly my engine just blew.....I think i t overheated but didnt know because gauge doesnt work, so I let her go, deciding to wait till I graduate college before I bought another Rx7, or any car for that matter.
However, I think it was fate that I came across this other Rx7. My mom's best friend owns a shop, a body, and his brother has this Rx7 he got cheap at an auction. He mentioned it to my momand she told me about it so I went in looked at it. It looks almost new, all center caps are there, interior is in damn near good condition, car almost looks new except for the big hole in the rear targa, but i can easily replace it by searching this forum.
The Problem
He said he thinks its not getting enough power because it takes a while of cranking before it starts up. He checkes the exhaust and that was fine. When I witnessed it actually reminded me of the flooding problems i had with my black vert. Think it could be the same? Hope it doesnt need a rebuild. Any advice?
Oh and its that metalic blue looking vert, its and S5, and he wants 1200. And since i'm in school, and they're cool with my mom I'm able to pay him in increments till he has the 1200.

how many miles? If its lowish miles 120k or lower, and its n/a, I dont think you'd have to worry about a compression check. Seriously sounds like its just flooding...leaky injectors maybe?
Either way $1200 for a running s5 vert doesnt sound bad.

Honestly..I didn't even check miles or anything else really.....I was just mezmerrized by it being an s5 fc vert for 1200 in almost perfect condition. I will check miles when i go back to see the car. Any other recomended checks i should make before I make my first partial payment?

A good compression check never hurts - it's also not that hard/expensive to do; miles are not the only cause of decreased compression.
$1200 is a good deal with a running motor whether it has life left or not. This time have it rebuilt (or rebuild it) when it fails though.
I would check other things for the reason it's not as quick, does it still have it's 5/6th ports functioning or are the actuators removed/wired open... are the 5th/6th port and vdi sensors sill hooked up. Give it a tune up (throw in some seafoam and vacuum lines), make sure it's running on low octance gas, think about advancing the spark, cleaning all the engine and suspension parts, etc.

Well I went and took the pics and did a little more research. Car has 128,000 miles on it and apparently it like i said has trouble starting and when it does start its like it has no power. SO I'm thinking it needs a rebuild However I am still strongly considering buying it an am just gonna save for a rebuild. Hopefully if I do get it, i'll have it running by winter or spring.
Here are pics, enjoy.....
