Factory Radar detector?

Ok, so I was doing some wiring and working on a customers FC this week and when it was on the hoist I noticed a strange sensor I've never seen before underneith the re-bar at the front. Didn't think much of it until I was under the dash I noticed this controller:

It looks like it was some kind of Mazda factory option maybe???

The sensor at the front would be the actual radar detector I guess?

It might still work too...it lights up and blinks the LED's and makes noise haha. Its pretty cool, never heard of any FC's having something like that before.

Yeah its a 10ae. Its also a US car originally. The customer brought it up to Canada a few years ago.

I can almost bet this radar detector won't even detect a single radar. Just imagine how diverse radars have gotten since this detector was released. It's cool though, could be a collector!

Dealer installed part based on the old K40 radar detectors.

Most dealers had them at that time period, they were $300-$400 installed ($300 for the ones with just front sensors like that one, $400 for the ones with front and rear sensors).

Not Mazda factory at all... simply an accessory that MNA had made.

And a pretty lame install that they didn't even use the screw holes and just used velcro tape.
