Factory amp turn on?

Installed a new deck (radio) and everything works except the speakers. There is a white wire (amp turn on) that I did not know how to use.
How do I go about wiring this to control it?
Just a 12 volt signal or should it be to ground?

It's just an aftermarket CD player, I wired up the harness for it and hooked up an amp and single sub. The deck, amp and sub work fine. It has worked in the past, I took out the old aftermarket deck to use in another car in a pinch.
I just need to know how I can use the white (amp tun on) signal? 12V or 0V?

My experience has been that decks will have a blue remote (amp on) wire. This wire is energized and wired to your amp to turn it on ONLY when the deck is turned on, otherwise this wire is de-energized and the amp does not stay on 24/7 and drain your battery. You may want to confirm this function and see that your amp turns off when the deck is off.

I believe you're saying that your other, non-amplified speakers (in doors, dash, headrest if a vert) are not working. If this is the case, check continuity from the deck to each speaker. If your wiring is continuous, then either your deck is bad or there's something with the wiring that's beyond my knowledge.

The reason why I am asking what type of deck it is, what I meant is, is it JVC or Alpine....For example Alpine has a pre-amp for speakers. In the settings of these radios you have to go into the settings of the radio and turn the "IC amp" ON.

RX Spec, the deck is a JVC KD-R208. I am not too familiar with its settings yet, but I will play around with it this weekend. Another good idea to try, thanks.

If its JVC...take the blue amp turn that jal301 was talking about and cross it over with the 12v switch wire...Instant music

What do you mean, "cross it over with the 12v switch wire"?

I have tried stright wiring the deck to speakers, no sound. The deck could be garbage but it is less than a year old.

OP, you're talking about the white amp turn on wire on the car side? It needs 12V+ to power up the amps on the speakers that use an amp (some rear speakers have their own amp under them, some don't). S4 or S5?
